Lot 2090
Claudius II Gothicus, 268-270. Antoninianus (Bronze, 20 mm, 2.66 g), Rome, circa September 268-end 269. [IMP C CLAV]DIVS AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Claudius II to right, seen from behind. Rev. GENIVS EXERCI Genius standing front, head to left, holding patera in his right hand and cornucopiae in his left. RIC 48. RIC V online 229. Venèra 7291-315. An interesting mint error. Flip-over double strike and with minor deposits, otherwise, about very fine.

This coin is a so-called flip-over double strike, meaning that the flan was not removed between two strikes but flipped over, which resulted in parts of the reverse legend being visible on the obverse.
